Man Accusing County Employee of Gender Discrimination
David Scribner, a Collier County official, is accusing his supervisor, Diane Flagg, of gender discrimination. Flagg is the director of the Collier County Code Enforcement Department. The county could be docked hundreds of thousands of dollars because a complaint has been filed with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission by the agency’s manager of investigations. Scribner, in his complaint filed with the EEOC, claims that his supervisor is discriminating against him because he is a man by giving him entry-level work that is 10 pay grades below his position.
If Collier County is found in violation of gender discrimination at the workplace then it could cost the county close to $300,000 in lost wages, lost benefits, and punitive damages. Scribner, after filing a complaint with the EEOC, received an email from his supervisor in retaliation of the complaint. It reads: “Dave, At your earliest convenience on Monday, please give Marlene the keys to the office equipment/furniture. If you have any personal items that you wish to collect, please coordinate with Marlene. Thank you, Diane B. Flagg, Director Code Enforcement Department.” For any individual involved in a gender discrimination case, contact the law offices of Tobin and Reyes for expert legal counsel today.
